FTI Consulting Supports Guild Ventures in New York State Supreme Court Ruling Victory

Washington, D.C., Dec. 16, 2024 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced that professionals in its Real Estate Solutions practice within the firm’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment successfully supported Guild Ventures LLC (“Guild”) in a recent ruling by the New York State Supreme Court.

The commercial foreclosure case focused on the fair market value for a more than 75-acre property in Albany, N.Y. Senior Managing Director Mark Dunec served as the expert appraiser for Guild and appraised the property at $2.55 million. The opposing expert appraised the same property at $71.5 million. The court ultimately accepted Guild’s valuation, citing Mr. Dunec’s expertise and methodology for valuing the property.

Judge Thomas Marcelle wrote in the decision, “The court’s determination comes down in large part to the dueling expert reports and testimony… Guild has met its burden for demonstrating the fair market value of the property and defendants have failed to adequately rebut Dunec’s opinions and conclusions or otherwise convince the court to adopt their own.”
