Mortgage-Backed Securities, Trading and Investments Expert Boris Richard Joins FTI Consulting

Washington, D.C., June 20, 2018 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced that Boris Richard joined the firm as a Managing Director in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment, enhancing the firm’s financial economics strength with deep experience in mortgage-backed securities (“MBS”), residential mortgage-backed securities (“RMBS”), structured finance, securities valuation, financial markets and trading. He will be based in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Richard has more than 15 years of experience in agency and private-label RMBS, rate products (U.S. Treasuries, swaps, SSA bonds, Treasury and Eurodollar futures) and interest-rate derivatives (swaptions, caps/floors) as a sell-side market strategist, bond trader and a buy-side hedge fund portfolio manager.

Prior to his consulting career, Dr. Richard was head of agency debt strategy at Barclays Capital in New York and actively participated in establishing Barclays as a key player in the agency debt markets. He also played a leading role in the marketing and distribution of complex agency and non-agency structured MBS securities at Goldman Sachs in New York. He subsequently worked as a market maker in callable agency bonds and was a quantitative MBS hedge fund portfolio manager.

Dr. Richard has deep expertise in RMBS litigation, including the areas of structured mortgage cash flows and mortgage derivatives, loss-causation analysis, due diligence and damages. His structured finance litigation experience includes both investigative and private litigation involving synthetic asset-backed collateralized debt obligations (“CDO”) backed by subprime mortgage collateral. He has modeled synthetic CDOs and analyzed trading activities in CDO tranches and single-name corporate and ABS credit default swaps. In addition, Dr. Richard has fixed-income securities and derivative instruments valuation expertise and has worked on antitrust investigations into broker-dealer trading practices.

Dr. Richard joins FTI Consulting from Cornerstone Research. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University.
