About Gil
Gil Jones specializes in assisting clients globally to navigate the challenges related to organizational design, right-sizing, labor forecasting, executive compensation and operational improvement.
Mr. Jones’ expertise includes workforce optimization, restructuring and privatization, labor strategy, operational process improvement, mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”), design and project management, employee experience design, labor planning and modeling, organizational strategy and business process design.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Jones was a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Strategy X Partners, a boutique consultancy focusing on human capital, workforce transformation, analytics and strategy.
Before Strategy X, Mr. Jones was a project leader at Seabury Consulting. He also worked within United Airlines’ Flight Operations division, providing analysis and recommendations targeted at improving flight safety, compliance, productivity and reliability.
Mr. Jones received a B.S. in Aviation Technology and an M.S. in Aerospace Management from Purdue University. He holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate, CE525S type rating and is a CFII.
Relevant Experience:
- African Network Carrier: Led the development of a new operating model, including an organizational redesign, for the carrier and its wholly-owned MRO, as part of a company-wide strategy to return to profitability; achieved a forecasted overhead labor savings of ~20%, while enabling both short- and long-term strategic objectives of the business; acted as a key liaison between the senior leadership, the Board of Directors and organization labor groups throughout the restructuring process
- South American Network Carrier: Led a comprehensive airport operations transformation in a complex operational environment with the goal of simultaneously achieving significant cost savings, desired reliability and safety; coordinated numerous workstreams targeted at enhancing above- and below the wing manpower planning models, turn process standardization and airport vendor strategy and relationships; pivoted teams during the onset of COVID-19 to develop an airport staffing and operational plan to mitigate the spread of the virus throughout the airport operations teams
- Global Investment Firms: Acted as a labor subject matter advisor and labor workstream lead on numerous due diligence efforts targeted at airlines, airport service providers and other travel businesses; identified key labor improvement initiatives across the business focused on strategic improvements to be achieved without compromising business integrity or long-term labor relations
