About Jorge
Jorge Lacayo drives impactful organic and inorganic growth strategies, identifying key opportunities across the consumer, retail and pharmaceutical sectors. Mr. Lacayo has deep expertise in the agribusiness, consumer products, retail, pharmaceuticals and private equity sectors. He is a leader in the Business Transformation, Strategy & Transactions practice in Latin America and has extensive experience in strategic and transformation consulting.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Lacayo led EY Parthenon’s Latin America strategy practice for nine years and spent 12 years at McKinsey, focused on Latin America.
Mr. Lacayo specializes in growth strategy, commercial due diligence, market assessments, planning, marketing and sales, route-to-market and organizational design, helping corporate and private equity clients identify and capture growth opportunities.
Mr. Lacayo is known for his expertise in developing strategies and evaluating growth opportunities in markets with limited data. He has led strategy implementation both as a consultant and as Head of Strategy at leading Mexican companies Laboratorios Pisa and Grupo Kuo.
Mr. Lacayo has advised corporations and portfolio companies across Mexico and Latin America, with a particular focus on helping Latin American companies expand into the U.S. market and helping international players enter Mexico. He is a native Spanish and English speaker and is proficient in Portuguese.
Relevant Experience:
- Developed an entry strategy into the premium sparkling water market in key Latin American markets for a leading global multicategory beverage company
- Led an assessment of the coffee market in Latin America and the development of an entry strategy for a global multicategory beverage company, with a focus on on-premise consumption
- Developed a digital strategy and accelerated the adoption program for the leading juice producer in Mexico
- Developed a domestic and international growth strategy for the pork category of the leading animal protein producer in Mexico
- Led the commercial due diligence (“CDD”) of a vegetable oil and fat producer and the understanding of the Ecuador and Colombia markets for a global food producer
- Led multiple CDDs of restaurant chains in Mexico, defining market potential, evaluating brand positioning and identifying value creation opportunities
