Mexico Insights From the 2026 PE Value Creation Index

Mexico’s private equity market is executing at a high level. A regional view of findings from the 2026 Private Equity Value Creation Index,¹ our annual survey of more than 555 senior private equity leaders, suggests firms operating in the region outpace global peers on M&A speed and business case delivery, outperform other regions in AI adoption awareness and generate above-average returns from efficiency levers. Still, value creation planning remains reactive in many cases, and the sector’s most reliable levers continue to be deprioritized for 2026.

To better understand the Mexico market, we extracted and analyzed responses from Mexico-based participants² in our global survey. This regional analysis isolates the perspectives of Mexico respondents, benchmarking performance, priorities and execution capabilities against global trends.

Executive Summary

Value creation planning remains largely reactive. Mexico respondents are 4x more likely than global peers to rely on reactive planning, and only 20% begin value creation planning during diligence.

Customer health is the biggest commercial execution gap. While firms deploy customer retention and churn prevention initiatives at high rates, respondents report no business case outperformance from these efforts.

Efficiency levers generate strong returns but remain underprioritized. Cash conversion and cost optimization consistently outperform among Mexico respondents yet rank surprisingly low on 2026 priorities.

M&A delivers fast and stronger results. Mexico respondents report business case success rates above global averages and achieve value realization within 12 months — nearly twice the global rate.

AI adoption leads global peers, but scaling outcomes remains a challenge. Mexico reports the highest level of AI disruption awareness and faster time-to-value, though implementation and business case performance trail top-performing firms.
