Justin McCarty specializes in analyzing financial statements, financial models and cash flows, managing mergers and acquisitions teams, performing synergy assessment and implementation and communicating findings effectively. Mr. McCarty has more than 15 years of professional experience providing financial and operational consulting, M&A transaction advisory, merger integration and interim financial management services to a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, private equity, mezzanine and senior lenders.
In more than 100 transactions, Mr. McCarty has advised clients across the food, consumer packaged goods (“CPG”), chemical and industrial manufacturing, automotive, healthcare, business services and technology industries, among others. His experience is primarily in mergers and acquisitions. He also aids his clients in executing strategic performance improvement initiatives, financial analysis and modeling, carve-outs, merger integration, profitability and cash flows. He has worked extensively, guiding clients through acquisitions or divesting non-strategic assets to achieve their financial goals.
Mr. McCarty recently served clients driving strategic pricing initiatives, focusing on cost accounting validation, market and customer segmentation, strategic development by product/customer and ultimately implementation/monitoring. Mr. McCarty constructed and utilized robust data warehouses to arrive at EBITDA by product/customer to assist executive management’s decision-making.
In addition, Mr. McCarty served as interim Director of Financial Planning & Analysis for a private equity purchased carve-out business. He effectively led the company through a successful refinance process. He also mined and synthesized poor quality financial data to model and present strategic options to the CEO, CFO and private equity led board of directors.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. McCarty was a Managing Director at a nationally recognized advisory firm in the Transaction Advisory practice. In this role, he supervised teams in areas of financial and operational buy- and sell-side due diligence. Mr. McCarty also assisted executive-level clients in the early identification of transaction issues or performance improvement opportunities, evaluation of post-acquisition synergies and the sustainability of earnings/cash flow. Before that, he was a Manager in the Financial Due Diligence Transaction Services practice at a Big-Four accounting firm.
Mr. McCarty holds an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Business Administration from Bucknell University, with a focus in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Missouri and Illinois (inactive status) and a member of the Association of Corporate Growth, Chicago chapter. Mr. McCarty also serves on the board of directors for St. Isaac Jogues Catholic School.
