Stuart Amor is a Senior Managing Director in the Economic Consulting segment at FTI Consulting and is based in London. Dr. Amor acts as a testifying valuation expert primarily on energy matters. Before joining FTI Consulting, he was an oil and gas equity analyst at Credit Suisse, ING and RFC Ambrian.
Dr. Amor has over 20 years’ experience of valuing oil and gas companies. He has a deep understanding of the oil and gas industry, the various types of companies within it and the key drivers of their profitability.
Dr. Amor has testified in three arbitral hearings, and is due to testify in three more in 2020. He has worked on various types of oil and gas disputes at FTI Consulting. These have included the valuation of an interest in a Middle Eastern oil license that was in dispute, the valuation of a Chinese oil and gas company’s tax benefit, the valuation of an oil and gas construction company at its initial public offering (“IPO”), a post-acquisition warranty claim involving a North Sea oil company and a fair value determination of the minority shares of a Russian oil field service company that were squeezed out in a management buyout.
As an investment analyst, Dr. Amor researched and valued European integrated majors (BP and Shell), Russian oil and gas companies (e.g., Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil) and African mid-cap and junior exploration and production companies (including Seplat Petroleum, Tullow Oil, Africa Oil Corp., Ophir and FAR Ltd,). He has marketed his research to leading global institutional investors. While at Credit Suisse, he was the top ranked analyst in the Reuters fund manager survey of EMEA oil and gas analysts for two years in a row.
Dr. Amor has extensive capital raising experience. He was the sole lead analyst on Lukoil’s USD 340 million mandatory convertible bond placing - essentially Lukoil’s IPO. He was also Credit Suisse’s investment analyst on both Gazprom’s and Ramco’s IPOs. As Head of Equity Research at ING, he oversaw the deal-related equity research and valuation of over 20 IPOs in various sectors.
