James Wolf is a Managing Director in the Office of the CFO practice and specializes in Business Transformation. Mr. Wolf has over 20 years of experience advising corporate clients, private equity and venture capital firms in finance performance improvement and transaction advisory matters. His industry experience includes retail, manufacturing, consumer products, life sciences and technology.
Mr. Wolf has served as CFO and VP of Finance of several companies, leading the daily operations of the accounting, FP&A and treasury functions including the implementation of policies and procedures and hiring and training of personnel. Mr. Wolf’s expertise includes interim management, M&A transactions, strategic planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, as well as the execution of financial and operational performance improvement plans. He specializes in improving financial reporting processes and using analytics to create actionable intelligence to improve pricing, operating efficiency and cash flow.
Mr. Wolf has substantial CFO advisory experience leading finance and accounting teams of large public and private companies through carve-out and IPO transactions and standing up the finance functions of companies by improving organizational efficiency, management reporting and business planning. He also has experience in creating dashboard analytics related to key business drivers, including rate volume analysis, asset utilization and operational KPIs, working alongside operational personnel through the strategic planning process to improve pricing, margins and go-to-market strategies and identifying improvements in core operational processes and developing action plans to stand up a finance organizations improving resource allocation, financial processes and systems.
Additional experience includes preparing fully integrated budget plans, financial forecasts and weekly treasury cash forecasts for complex, multi divisional businesses and enhancing financial and operational planning (S&OP) processes and resource allocation incorporating the impact of macro economic factors and other company specific factors impacting consumer demand forecast. Mr. Wolf also has experience in preparing financial and operational assessments, developed roadmaps and identified opportunities to quickly improve sustained profitability, and identifying and capturing annualized, recurring margin enhancement related to the execution of initiatives including sales force optimization and pricing improvement, as well as procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and logistics cost optimization.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wolf worked in the Global Corporate and Investment Banking divisions at Morgan Stanley and Bank of America. He partnered closely with finance and operations executives, depository agencies, auditors and regulators streamlining efficiencies in global trading platforms. He also developed internal controls to assess, quantify and mitigate market, credit and operational risks. In addition, Mr. Wolf contracted with senior management at a large pharmaceutical firm, as well as a scientific supplies manufacturer, developing corporate strategy and assisting with related acquisitions and divestitures.
Mr. Wolf holds a B.S.B.A. in finance and management information systems from Villanova University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in finance and investment management from The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Mr. Wolf is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the CFA North Carolina Society.
