About Justin
Justin Pugh is a member of Corporate Finance & Restructuring and FTI Capital Advisors, the firm’s investment banking subsidiary. Mr. Pugh specializes in providing strategic, operational and financial solutions to enterprises and their related stakeholders and his engagements have spanned a variety of industries, including creditors, debtors, shareholders, boards of directors and prospective purchasers. Mr. Pugh has more than 10 years of experience.
During the course of his assignments, Mr. Pugh has prepared and conducted extensive reviews of business plans and financial projections, assisted in refinancing efforts, provided mergers and acquisitions advisory services, investigated a variety of financial improprieties, served as interim management, acted as a liquidating agent and trustee, been appointed by district courts as a receiver, provided due diligence services to lenders and prospective purchasers, and proposed and implemented performance improvement initiatives.
Mr. Pugh recently served as the Treasurer/CFO of Tonopah Solar Energy, a 110 megawatt concentrated solar power project company, where he was tasked to restructure the project company and to settle a variety of disputes amongst stakeholders. Prior to holding this role, Mr. Pugh served as the Chief Restructuring Officer of a solar panel manufacturer, where he effectuated an out-of-court wind down of the company and a sale of the shell, preserving the intellectual property and net operating losses for investors.
In an advisory capacity, Mr. Pugh recently worked as an advisor to the board of directors of a renewable energy specialty financier. In this role, he collaborated with the company’s venture investors to develop a strategy to pivot the business model from its legacy asset ownership model to a revised, capital light platform model. As part of this pivot, he developed financial models to support the transition and sized the associated capital requirements. Further, he was an advisor to a private equity owner of a solar/cogeneration developer, where he worked to develop the Company’s go-forward investment strategy, targeting specific customers, geographies, markets, and price points. Additionally, he has served as an advisor to the Board of Directors of the largest, global renewable energy developer, where he provided forensic analyses of the company’s activities for the period leading up to its bankruptcy.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Pugh was an Associate at Alliance Management, a boutique turnaround management and restructuring consultancy. In this capacity, he served as a court-appointed receiver on multiple occasions, the financial advisor to several companies in bankruptcy and an expert witness on valuation matters. Before Alliance, Mr. Pugh held roles of increasing responsibility in the corporate finance, FP&A, and supply chain functions, respectively, of three Fortune 500 companies where he focused primarily on ecommerce and digital strategy.
Mr. Pugh's most recent corporate experience was with Amazon as a manager in the European Fulfillment Network based in Luxembourg, where he was responsible for the development of a multi-billion euro-dollar cross country, integrated supply chain. Prior to his time with Amazon, he worked in the e-commerce division of Target Corporation where he assisted in relaunching the commercial platform through facilitating the migration of its website from Amazon Web Services to an in-house, proprietary platform.
Early in Mr. Pugh's career, he served as an analyst at a forensic economic consulting firm where he provided expert witness services in antitrust and securities litigation.
