By the time a data center project has reached the commercial agreement phase, potentially hundreds of millions of dollars have already been committed in land agreements, power agreements and supply chain orders. Once the agreement is signed, the clock starts ticking as sophisticated investors and other stakeholders push for more accurate reporting on when the project will be ready for service.
A critical component is having strong accountability governance, which is embodied by assigning a single entity to be responsible for overseeing the engagement from the development phase through construction, all the way to handover for operations. Information flow among the sometimes hundreds of people involved, many of whom rely on traditional Excel spreadsheets, must also be addressed, possibly with a modern PMIS tool, to maintain compliance and ensure a single source of truth.
In this video, data center industry expert Greg Parker reveals more key factors that can accelerate the dirt-to-cash phase and enhance the speed and predictability of the data center’s RFS date.
