FTI Consulting Announces 2019 Senior Managing Director Promotions in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring Segment
WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 14, 2018 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced that 10 professionals have been promoted to Senior Managing Director within the firm’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.
The promotions include Stephen Bertonaschi, Iain Graham, Bill He, Laura Jackson, Sid Malhotra, Mark Murphy, Daniel Punt, Tim Schleeter, Kerry Sporkin and Adam Tillery.

Mr. Bertonaschi, based in Roseland, has over 16 years of experience advising clients in key areas, including entity formation and structuring, real estate asset acquisitions and dispositions, real estate investment trust (“REIT”) due diligence and compliance matters. Mr. Bertonaschi has deep expertise in institutional-owned real estate, with a significant focus on public REITs. He has broad experience with real estate mergers and acquisitions, partnership roll-ups, buy- and sell-side due diligence, tax accounting matters, like-kind exchanges, disguised sales, RIDEA tax structures and financial statement income tax provisions.
Mr. Graham, based in London, has over 16 years of experience providing restructuring and insolvency advice across complex multi-creditor restructuring situations and performing strategic business reviews. Mr. Graham has extensive experience successfully advising and managing stakeholders across various sectors and has worked on numerous high-profile distressed situations. His recent senior lender work includes advising the working capital providers to a U.S.-listed bunkering business in relation to its restructuring negotiations and ultimate successful exit from the situation.
Mr. He, based in Shanghai, has over 25 years of experience in global operations strategy, business development, product design, sourcing and international and multi-culture business. Mr. He will lead the firm’s Business Transformation practice in China. He plans and delivers procurement value, resulting in significant bottom-line impact in challenging global environments. His experience in creating and implementing strategy execution programs that deliver sustainable performance improvement includes global strategic sourcing and supplier collaboration, change management, performance improvement, business process design, technology integration, sales and marketing and online sales strategy and execution.
Ms. Jackson, based in Roseland, has over 17 years of experience in the REIT and partnership areas of real estate taxation, providing expertise in due diligence, structuring, REIT compliance, tax compliance, §754 adjustments, partnership taxation and qualified opportunity funds. Ms. Jackson developed FTI Consulting’s REIT due diligence group, which now serves numerous public and private REITs. She also has extensive experience with deal structuring, creating §704(c) models and handling complicated domestic and international tax compliance for numerous large public and private real estate clients.
Mr. Malhotra, based in Houston, has over 20 years of experience in providing strategy, merger integrations and carve-outs, business model development and operating model transformation services to global companies. His industry expertise is in energy, power and products and chemicals. Mr. Malhotra’s experience includes “blue sky” growth strategy, business strategy planning, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, commercial and operational due diligence, channel and customer profitability, product and pricing optimization, research and development innovation, go-to-market planning, operations and supply chain management, network optimization, organization and change management and operations excellence.
Mr. Murphy, based in Boston, has over 10 years of experience advising strategic and financial buyers with buy-side and sell-side due diligence, transition planning, carve-outs and carve-ins, business plan reviews, financial modeling, restructuring and turnaround activities, with industry expertise in healthcare and telecom, media and technology. Mr. Murphy has worked on healthcare transactions ranging from nationwide hospital systems with over $1 billion in net revenue to small healthcare information technology solutions. Mr. Murphy’s telecom, media and technology experience includes radio, digital media, marketing technology and software businesses.
Mr. Punt, based in Los Angeles, has over 15 years of experience in strategic planning and business plan development, performance improvement, merger and acquisition advisory, commercial and operational due diligence, litigation support, private capital financing and project management. Mr. Punt’s recent client work includes a comprehensive benchmarking of streaming video technology across a major U.S. media company and a merger and acquisition-driven growth strategy for a major U.S. television distribution company.
Mr. Schleeter, based in Chicago, has over 18 years of experience working with global retailers and consumer products companies, acting as a strategic advisor and consultant as well as serving in interim management positions. Mr. Schleeter focuses on working with clients’ C-suite and executive teams to set strategic direction and lead initiatives that improve performance, operational efficiencies and market share. Mr. Schleeter has worked with a wide range of retailers and direct selling companies, including specialty, big box, department store, fashion, fast fashion, luxury, beauty, off-price, grocery and vertically integrated retailers.
Ms. Sporkin, based in Washington, D.C., has over 15 years of experience working on strategic consulting engagements, with a specific focus on corporate finance. Ms. Sporkin has extensive experience creating, managing and selling highly profitable information services and advisory products. She has spent the majority of her career working with finance leaders, including CFOs, corporate controllers and heads of financial planning and analysis for Fortune 500 companies on complex finance organizational initiatives, such as finance transformation, risk management, capital management, change management and talent development.
Mr. Tillery, based in Atlanta, has over 15 years of experience in financial due diligence, forecasting, financial modeling, valuation services and interim management support, with a specialization in healthcare and technology. Mr. Tillery’s healthcare experience includes dental, pharmaceuticals, post-acute, urgent care and numerous physician practices specialties and encompasses a wide range of special situations, including assessment of revenue and AR models and serving in interim management roles. Mr. Tillery’s technology experience has included numerous public-to-private transactions and extensive expertise with software revenue recognition and multiple element arrangements.
